BACK for its third year, the rejuvenated Wimborne Minster Folk Festival takes place from June 12 to 14.

Launching the line-up, the festival has unveiled five acts from the vanguard of contemporary UK folk, including some fantastic home-grown talent.

Twice BBC Folk Awards-nominated Gilmore & Roberts will bring their lap-tapping guitar, fiery fiddle and trademark harmonies back to Wimborne following their appearance in 2013.

Wimborne’s own Will McNicol (UK Acoustic Guitarist of the Year 2011) will make his home festival debut alongside the explosive rhythms of drummer Luke Selby.

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Louise Jordan will showcase her award-winning acoustic song-writing and classical sensibility, which includes musical settings of literature and unique arrangements of traditional folk songs.

Bournemouth-based trio Kadia have created a refreshing brand of foot-stomping modern folk.

They combine inventive guitar patterns with three-part harmonies and layer it with the warm tones of cello and ukulele.

Completing the first batch of confirmed acts are Dorset’s Ninebarrow (Jon Whitley and James LaBouchardiere), winners of the Larmer Tree Breakthrough Music Award in 2013.

More artists, dance groups and activities are set to be announced in the coming months. Super early bird weekend tickets for the 2015 festival are now on sale at the special price of £35 from wimbornefolk.co.uk.

Chairman of the festival committee, Moe Kochar, said: “We are very excited to unveil these five incredible acts as a special sneak preview of what’s building to be an unmissable line-up for 2015.

“The festival is going from strength to strength, with a great team of volunteers in place and plans for 2015 taking shape nicely. Our super early bird tickets won’t hang around, so get them while you can.”
