SHE’S one of the West End’s most popular and talented leading ladies. Actress Jenna Lee-James was part of the original cast of ‘We Will Rock You’ and will be fronting the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Queen Symphonic Spectacular in Meyrick Park on Saturday night.

Jenna took time out of the final preparations ahead of Saturday’s show to answer a few questions about her career...

What are your favourite ‘Queen’ tracks to perform above all else and why?

I absolutely love performing ‘Somebody to Love’ as there is so much passion in the song and also a little bit of fun. It was also the first song I got to sing on a West End stage with an audience. ‘No-one But You’ is also very dear to my heart. I think every single person out there who has lost someone can connect with it.

You performed ‘Beatlemania’ with the BSO at Meyrick Park back in 2008, what are you most looking forward to about performing with them this year?

The BSO have always been one of my favourite orchestras to perform with and having never performed the Queen show with them I cannot wait. Especially the atmosphere at an outside concert. The British public are always really up for a party even in our British summer time come rain or come shine.

What inspired you to embark on a career in performing arts?

I’ve always loved to sing and dance, even from an early age. My mum and dad will tell you that I was the embarrassing kid who used to sing and tap dance at the bus stop. Judy Garland was my ultimate inspiration as I used to watch all the old movies and still love her singing ‘You made me Love You’ to Clark Gable.

If you could work with one performer, past or present, who would it be and why?

Freddie Mercury and Celine Dion all on one stage. Now that would be a show!

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you whilst performing?

One night after a We Will Rock You show, we went to the Grosvenor House Hotel in London to do a private concert.

During the head banging section of Bohemian Rhapsody I got a bit carried away and my bra burst open from the front! I had to run offstage but the only place to go was directly behind the stage which was the kitchens and the staff were still clearing up after dinner. Mortified.
