Jazz Juice is a Bournemouth institution and it’s found a fab new venue in Canvas, Bournemouth’s only loft bar, for this August's Bank Holiday bash.

It started way back in 1992 when acid jazz was the go-to music for cool clubs on the coast. It quickly became a cult night out, particularly with the town's student population. Now those early day regulars mingle with a new generation of funk lovers to dance out the last big weekend of the summer.

Expect foot-stomping tunes from the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Incognito, Jamiroquai, Soul II Soul, The SOS Band - all firm favourites with the Canvas crowd. 1970s funk and disco classics are pretty timeless and a welcome palate cleanser after a summer of thumping techno or harder dance music. It’s also the perfect fit for the continued revival of Poole Hill, known as Bournemouth’s Soho quarter, which has seen an influx of new businesses in the past five years to raise the tone of this once-tired part of town.

While businesses in the town centre come and go, Canvas’s eclectic mix of club nights, local bands and big-name live acts has seen them thrive, not just survive, as they race towards their two-year anniversary in October.

This celebration is extra special as it marks 25 years since the first Jazz Juice opened its doors. A quarter of a century of butt-slapping sounds must be respected! The team expect tickets to sell out and recommended buying in advance on www.canvasbournemouth.com to avoid disappointment.
