THE story of teen pop singer Maggie Lindemann’s rise to fame, has all the hallmarks of a Hollywood fairy tale.

She joined a church choir at the age of four and as she grew up she started posting videos of her singing on social media. One of her posts was seen by former Sony music marketing strategist, Gerald Tennison, who offered to be her manager. At the age of 16, she said goodbye to her family in San Antonio and relocated to Los Angeles in 2014.

“I’ve been singing nearly my whole life,” she explains. “It was just something I had to do. I needed to give it a shot.”

Maggie went on to have a global hit with Pretty Girl which made the Top 10 and her current single Obsessed, recently picked as Scott Mills’ Tune of the Week on Radio 1, has already exceeded 13 million streams.

“Obsessed is about being with someone who only really cares about themselves,” says Maggie. “Being with someone physically, but not being able to be with them mentally or emotionally... it’s more of a play on words and a cheeky song because in the end I sing ‘I’m obsessed with myself too.’”

The 19-year old star recently collaborated with The Vamps on their new single Personal, which they performed together at Radio 1’s Teen Awards.

Now Maggie is currently on tour with The Vamps and will be at the Bournemouth International Centre on Monday, April 16.

Maggie told the Echo: “I don’t want people to just expect poppy songs because I’m a teen girl,” she explains.

“The boundaries are wide open. I’m going to do what I want, say what I want, and be what I want. I hope everyone feels like they can do the same thing when they hear me.”
