Heaven 17 are to perform their acclaimed 1983 album The Luxury Gap in full this winter including a date at Bournemouth's O2 Academy.

The album came after the critically acclaimed Penthouse and Pavement in 1981 and is an undoubtable pop masterpiece.

The Sheffield trio had to convince their sceptical record company that Temptation should be the next single.

A duet between Glenn Gregory and Carol Kenyon, this song of lust, brilliantly framed by a musical structure stormed the charts and remains a classic to this day.

Lead single Temptation was omnipresent on its release in 1883 and regularly appears on lists of 80s classic songs. Two further singles, Crushed by the Wheels of Industry and Come Live With Me, both of which were also big chart hits.

The album itself went to reach number four and cemented Heaven 17 as an important British post-punk bands.

Now, 35 years later The Luxury Gap described as "Heaven 17’s sly, post-modern critique of modern society has never sounded so resonant, nor been so necessary."

Martyn Ware said: “All of us at H17 HQ are thrilled to announce our forthcoming tour. Our 35th anniversary celebration of The Luxury Gap will be spectacular, and the themes of the songs are more relevant than ever before. Don’t miss it!”

Heaven 17 are currently working on a new album provisionally titled The House of Illustrious, but the chance to see them perform their classics live is one that should be jumped at.

The band will be covering ten dates this winter performing their masterpiece in full along with some of their classic tracks. Tickets are on sale via gigsandtours.com.
