Tonight’s support act Dream Wife do a great job of getting the crowd ready for Justin and the band who take to the stage looking fighting fit in jeans, t-shirts and a selection of shades. I was quite surprised that they could all fit, as every square inch of the place seems to be crammed with more lights than I have ever seen at the venue.

It’s hard to believe that The Vaccines have already been around for seven years and are currently on album number four. The latest of these, Combat Sports, is released this week and gets a good showing tonight. Considering how new it is, it goes down well with a pretty full, boisterous and very vocal crowd at the O2.

The set is delivered at breakneck speed and full volume which is just how these songs should be listened to. The sound was spot on so everything was clear, and as expected the light show was excellent. With the band covering what little space there was during each song this was a full on gig both on and off the stage.

With the main set coming in at just over an hour, they didn’t hang around and the chat between songs was kept to a bare minimum. The evening rounded off with a short encore delivered with the same intensity and passion as the main event

This is my first of four gigs in four days and if the other three are anywhere near as good as this then I am in for a brilliant weekend.
