WALK RIGHT BACK

Weymouth Pavilion

HARMONIES from Heaven is the subtitle of this tribute show and it is not far wrong as brothers Aaron and Luke Wilson take on the role of the Everly Brothers, the most iconic pair in pop history.

The production presented the audience with a biographical history of the American country boys whose parents got them on the road to fame with a radio show that launched the brothers’ career, the show's five piece backing group members taking on a variety of roles ranging from mum and dad to Roy Orbison and beyond on their way to super-stardom

With Weymouth as the production's first stop in a national tour, it was not surprising that there were a few hiccups and the first 20 minutes were decidedly painful to hear with dodgy sound and awkward harmonies but things slowly warmed up and the end result was a well performed tribute that delighted the capacity audience.

Hit numbers like Bye Bye Love and Cathy’s Clown rubbed shoulders with a touching remembrance of Buddy Holly in a show that added photographic images of the brothers throughout their career in a troubled story of fame and fury which revealed some of the grim truths behind the pop music business.

The backing musicians gave excellent value for money and the Wilson brothers, once they got over their first few upsets, produced a show that brought back happy memories of the swinging sixties that was full of sweet emotion. A job well done.
