NO wonder Ruby Wax is excited to be in town this week. Apparently she’s got a bit of a crush on AFC Bournemouth manger Eddie Howe!

Within minutes of our conversation, ahead of last night’s show in Poole, she confesses to having a soft spot for the Cherries football boss.

“He is easily the best looking manager in the premiership right now, he’s hot!”, she confides.

The American born comedian is on fine form, even though she’s in the middle of her biggest tour to date, Frazzled.

But she is confident she can cope with the hectic work schedule now.

A few years ago she had a well documented breakdown and as part of her recovery, she studied Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy to increase her understanding of the brain which has become the basis for her best selling books.

“I don’t get tired and I don’t find it stressful being on stage and that’s what’s so weird,” she explains. “I want to say what I have to say so badly and when you have a reason to do something, rather than doing it because you have to, that’s the difference.”

Ruby’s show is based on her latest book Frazzled which basically explains why stress is not our fault.

“The numbers of people burning out now is astronomical - 90 per cent of people see the doctor for stress related issues rather than an actual disease.

“We’re supposed to be a bit stressed by the way - that’s what keeps us moving.

“But it’s when we start thinking we’re not good enough - that’s the toxic stuff.”

She adds: “I have a little warning bell now. I can tell the difference between healthy stress and the one that kills you.”
