A UNIQUE new community project is inviting keen actors and actresses to tread the boards in a stage adaptation of the much loved TV sitcom, The Vicar of Dibley.

Project Play is a new community project that is launching across the South West.

The aim is to produce a play that will travel across the region visiting theatres in each place. However, it is just the technical elements of the production that travel.

Project director Matthew Rock explains: "The cast of each production consists of actors and actresses from each area in this new and exciting approach which aims to bring the wider community of theatre together.

"In each region, a cast will have been rehearsing the popular title and be ready for the set to arrive, before giving performances at the theatre."

Wimborne is one of three regions that has been chosen for the first title.

"The project does not cost participants anything to be part of and hopes to run alongside everyone’s current involvement in the theatre world as it brings a professional approach to staging the productions. "

The first title will also be raising money for Comic Relief. To find out more, visit the Facebook page of Project Play.

Open auditions will be held at the Tivoli Theatre at 10.30am on Sunday, July 2. For further information, call 07970 216459.
