LIZA Pulman, one third of the satirical comedy trio, Fascinating Aida, arrives at the Regent in Christchurch on Sunday, October 15 at 7.30pm with her new show, Liza Sings Streisand.

It's not Stars In Their Eyes and it's not a Channel 5 biopic but this brand new show weaves together history, humour and harmony as Liza celebrates the songs of Barbra Streisand with her six piece band, the Stardust Ensemble.

Alongside renowned musical director Joseph Atkins, Liza presents glorious new arrangements and orchestrations of these now legendary songs, sensational standards and much loved classics including: Don’t Rain on My Parade, You Don’t Bring Me Flowers, People, Sleeping Bee, Evergreen, The Way We Were, New York State Of Mind, Second Hand Rose and many more in a full to bursting 90 minute show.

Liza has enjoyed an extensive and varied career encompassing a broad spectrum of music, comedy and theatre. After training at the Guildhall School Of Music & Drama she joined the Glyndebourne Opera enjoying principle roles in many of the globally renowned company’s leading productions. From Glyndebourne she guested with the D’Oyly Carte and Carl Rosa companies playing the leads in operettas by Offenbach and Gilbert and Sullivan.

Drawn by her love of musical theatre, Liza performed with Michael Ball in Adrian Noble’s award-winning 2002 production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium, a production which became the theatre’s longest running show. Further musical roles followed including playing opposite Philip Schofield in the UK tour of Dr Dolittle.

In 2004 Liza joined the internationally renowned comedy trio Fascinating Aida, and remains a member until this present day.

Liza has been focusing on her solo career with her concert and recording series Liza Pulman Sings. This summer she performed her highly acclaimed floral cabaret, Everything’s Coming Up Roses at the Edinburgh Festival and at other festivals all over the UK and she premiered a new show at Camp Bestival, Young At Heart, a show filled with Disney and balloons aimed at the younger generation and their exhausted parents. She has also been touring UK theatres with Joseph Atkins and the The Stardust Ensemble, in her tribute to the movies, The Songs Of Hollywood. Following a triumphant show at London’s Cadogan Hall in the spring she returned to London in the autumn for three sell-out shows at the wonderful Crazy Coqs, Brasserie Zedel in London’s Piccadilly

The CD album Songs Of Hollywood is released on First Night Records.
