SIX stage shows to watch at Lighthouse, Poole this season...

1. Dorset-born SISATA presents a radical reimagining of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, June 15, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the novel’s publication. The new play embraces the themes of the human ideal of perfection, psychosexual identity and the politics of gender and transgenderism.

2. Once Upon a Dream, June 16. This production takes classic Disney tales and abstract themes of magnificent dreams using hip hop, theatre, contemporary and other classical styles.

3. Decades, June 20. The Jazz Dance Company takes you on a journey from the glamour of 1920s Hollywood through the decades of the 20 and 21st century to the present day, capturing the essence of our changing eras, through events and musical styles of the times.

4. Great Expectations, June 21. David Mynne brings his skilful, one-man adaptation of Charles Dickens' epic story.

5. Jambhala, June 26. A light-hearted, multi-sensory and interactive family show, which features live music and the opportunity for audience volunteers to play small parts in the show. This is a fund-raising performance for The Yak Pack Theatre Project, who are taking this 'theatre-in-education' performance to schools and villages in the Indian Himalayas.

6. Post, July 12. The acclaimed theatre tour by Xavier de Sousa arrives in Poole for the first time to explore the concept of national identity and invites theatre goers to, "eat yummy food, drink potent Cachaça, get merry, make new friends and challenge what exactly makes a nation."
