A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital after falling on rocks at the weekend.

The casualty, who is in her 40s, slipped and fell at Kimmeridge Bay shortly after 2pm on Sunday.

She suffered a head injury in the fall.

An off-duty doctor and nurse helped at the scene before emergency responders attended.

The Coastguard helicopter then responded to airlift the woman to Southampton General Hospital, where she is receiving further treatment.

While Coastguard officials helped the woman, they were approached by the parents of a three-year-old child who had also suffered a suspected head injury.

The injury was not found to be serious and advice was given to the tot's parents.
