Everyone is invited to the annual Poole Country Fair at Upton Country Park on Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6. The event from 10am until 5pm features birds of prey, working dogs, children’s entertainment as well as arts, crafts, gifts and food marquees.

The Margaret Green Animal Rescue companion dog show, featuring classes, agility, face painting, a bouncy castle, barbecue and raffle, takes place on Sunday, August 6 at the organisation’s Church Knowle Centre from 11am until 4pm to raise money for animals who have been rescued from abuse or neglect.

The BCHA Festival of Wellbeing takes place on Friday, August 4 in Boscombe Gardens. The Bournemouth-based housing and social care provider will offer a range of activities from 1pm until 4pm including live music, entertainment and family fun and games. For information call 01202 410500

A popular music event returns to the village of Gorley after more than 25 years. The Hyde Band is resurrecting the Roaring 40s Concert, with hopes for the event to be bigger than ever before. The event includes performances from a number of local acts, with an optional Forties dress code. Tickets are available at £10, with doors opening for the event at 7pm on Brooklands Farm on August 5.

A fun event for fathers and their young children called Who Let The Dads Out? will take place at St Christopher’s Church Centre in Burleigh Road on August 5.  The event will take place between 9am and 11am and is open to dads and children up to the age of six years. It will include crafts, games, toys and even bacon and sausage butties. Costs £2 per family.

A Mind Body Soul exhibition will be taking place at Leeson House from August 5-13. The exhibition features a collaboration between Purbeck sculptor Andrew Thomas and painter Phil Hill. The free event takes place from 10am-5pm on each day. Visit mindbodysoul.gallery for further information.

The smooth Jazz festival Stompin' on the Quomps is back for its 23rd year at Christchurch Quay. Acts include Snake Davis, Not Just Sax, Zoe Schwartz Blue Commotion and many more. The free event is taking place on Saturday August 5 from midday.

The annual Poole Lifeboat Open Day, boasting a range of demonstrations and even a 'bake off', takes place on Sunday. This family-friendly event includes a lifeguard swim and ski demonstration, a kayak rescue, lifeboat capsize and a lifeguard board rescue. Alongside the bake off there will also be a raffle, tombola, souvenirs and side stalls.

A firework display will be taking place on Saturday night to mark the end of Swanage Carnival and Regatta for anothher year.
