If you're lucky enough to be off work this week, the good news is it will be mainly dry with spells of sunshine.

According to the Met Office, Monday will be cloudy with highs of 19C, while Tuesday will see sunny intervals and a maximum temperature of 20C.

Wednesday will be cloudy with a mix of sunshine and light rain showers on Thursday and Friday.

Looking ahead from the Saturday onwards the Met Office says: "The weather should improve from the southwest on Saturday, although on Sunday and for much of the following week, a resumption of the changeable weather pattern is expected, with wet and windy weather interspersed by brighter, showery conditions.

"The worst of the wind and rain is likely in the northwest, with the longest drier and brighter spells developing towards the south.

"However, confidence is low, and for a time during the week there is a small chance of more settled weather becoming established across the UK.

"Temperatures are most likely to be near average or below, with the greatest chance of some warmer spells developing in the south."
