ANDERS Rowe is set for a swift return to Wimborne Road, having been booked in as a guest by Plymouth Gladiators.

Rowe was part of Poole Pirates’ septet last year and impressed, particularly at home, scoring 141+29 from 102 races in total across 27 meetings.

He looked set to be part of Poole’s team again in 2024, only for plans to change late on, which sees him now without a team place anywhere in the Championship.

The 22-year-old is again riding in the Premiership for King’s Lynn, but has been lined up as a guest for Plymouth this week, riding at number one.

Gladiators are a rider short with another former Pirate, Nico Covatti, ruled out due to injury and have been granted the use of the guest facility for the first weeks of the season.

Rowe will be one of three members of Poole’s 2023 septet to line up against them at Wimborne Road tomorrow night (7.30pm).

Kyle Newman is in the main body of Garry May’s team, while Joe Thompson rides at reserve.

Pirates promoter Danny Ford said: “Our old adversary Garry May has just added a bit more spice to it, by booking Anders as a guest.

“Although there are no hard feelings between us and the riders we had to release from last season, I am sure that Kyle, Joe and even though he is only guesting, Anders, will be well up for the challenge.

“It is a priority to continue to make Wimborne Road a real fortress, and once again get another one over our Devonshire cousins.”

Poole are at full strength, looking to build on their strong start to the BSN Series with another home win. It is Plymouth’s first meeting of the season, having postponed two previous home fixtures.

Pirates: Lawson, Thomsen, Brennan, Z Cook, B Cook, Hagon, Perry.
