WIMBORNE Town’s promotion fight will go down to the final day of the season, after they lost late on at Tavistock.

Magpies knew victory would secure top spot in Southern League Division One South, but they were beaten 3-2 in Devon.

Wimborne led early on, courtesy of a Jack Lovell strike.

But the hosts battled back to equalise before half-time, through Jack Endacott.

With around 20 minutes to go, Tavistock got their noses in front courtesy of Alfie Cunningham, sparking Magpies into life.

Harry Morgan struck the post, before substitute Jonny Stuttle had a goal chalked off for offside.

As the game reached the final minute, Stuttle teed up Harry Baker to make it 2-2.

However, there was time for a final twist, the Lambs snatching victory in stoppage time via a stunning Ed Harrison strike.

Tim Sills’s side sit two points ahead of second-placed Frome Town, and go to Melksham Town on Saturday, while Frome host Bristol Manor Farm.
