TO hear this community choir sing, you would think they didn’t have a care in the world. But they all have one thing in common besides a love of music.

They are all carers from Bournemouth and Poole who provide support for a family member with a long term limiting disability or health condition.

Now the choir is keen to encourage other carers to find their voice and reap the benefits of group singing.

Margaret Stark of Bournemouth, who cares for her husband Michael who has dementia, said it is a wonderful way to forget about your cares for a while.

“We have been together now for six years, getting stronger, and enjoying the experience of singing together.

“It is such a friendly, sociable group and we are keen to expand into the community. New members are most welcome, men and women of any age.”

The Care Free Choir which was set up in 2013 meets on Monday mornings from 10.15am –12.15pm at St Osmund’s Church hall in St Osmund’s Road in Lower Parkstone Poole.

The sessions are led by musical director Chrissy Foster who leads a varied repertoire of popular songs dating from the 1960s to the present day as well as more traditional tunes.
