SOME football managers kick every ball of each match from their place in the technical area.
The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra's new Young Conductor in Association, Marta Gardolinska, clearly plays every note of every piece.
She delivered an utterly compelling performance in her Lighthouse debut on Wednesday.
It's unlikely that any newcomer to this special post has received such rapturous appreciation as was shown at the end of Masters of Melody, a wonderful programme featuring Mozart's The Magic Flute Overture, Bruch's Violin Concerto No 1 and Rachmaninov incomparable Symphony Number 2, brooding, boisterous, beautiful.
And judging by the comments from concert-goers as they filed out at the end of a sensational evening, the BSO faithful have a new favourite.
Miss Gardolinska who was chosen in June by the musicians themselves was a last minute replacement for the scheduled conductor, Ben Gernon.
If there were nerves for the home debut, they did not show. She was brimming with confidence and teased from the players an evening of energy, verve, vigour, emotion and passion - just as she promised.
And she also clearly had a wonderful rapport with violin virtuoso Nikita Boriso-Glebsky whose work on Bruch was simply stunning.
The audience was privileged to see two young musicians destined for the greatest things and once again their own world class orchestra continuing to play at the very top of its game.
