LIGHTHOUSE in Poole has received commendations in two major architectural awards in recognition of its £5.3 million refurbishment.

The iconic arts building was highly commended in the Community category at the 2018 SPACES Awards, held by the Society for Public Architecture, Construction, Engineering and Surveying.

It will also be a finalist in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Awards in London on November 2, after being named the South West’s regional winner of the Community Benefit category.

Chief Executive for Lighthouse, Elspeth McBain said: “We are thrilled that our refurbishment project has been recognised in this way. The work has transformed our building and the benefit to our artists, audiences and staff has been immense. This was a fascinating project for us.”
