COMEDIAN Joe Pasquale is to star as Frank Spencer in a new stage version of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em which will visit Lighthouse Poole for a five night run next year.

The touring production which follows its sell-out success last year, also features West End star Sarah Earnshaw and national treasure Susie Blake. Playing the loveable, accident-prone Frank Spencer is a dream come true according to Joe Pasquale: “After 30 years in showbusiness, this has been the role of a lifetime for me, so to be bringing it back again, this time to a wider audience, is a dream come true.

“Alongside Sarah Earnshaw’s brilliant Betty, the Spencers are hitting the road again, bigger and better than ever before…it’s going to be a disaster!”

The play, based on the original TV series by Raymond Allen, is written by Guy Unsworth, who says: “We never imagined how much love there would be for this new story of Frank and Betty, both from critics and audiences alike. I’m so pleased that these incredible cast members are returning, led of course by the irreplaceable Joe Pasquale, who is unmissable as Frank.”

The show which started in 1973 ran for five years and attracted millions of viewers.

Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em was one of the most popular TV shows in the 70s attracting millions of viewers.

The final episode, Learning to Fly, was shown on Christmas Day 1978 and was watched by 19 million viewers including the Royal Family, making it the most watched programme that year.
