A CELEBRATION of musical theatre through the years takes to the stage at Shelley Theatre in Boscombe this Sunday.

Broadway and Beyond has been touring the UK for the past 12 years and features 40 numbers, complete with costume changes, to celebrate the different eras of popular musicals.

Nicky Reader, performer and part of the creative team from Clearer Productions said: “To perform this is an absolute pleasure. Whilst there will be songs that people will know from shows such as Oklahoma, South Pacific and Miss Saigon, there are also other incredible songs that some people might have overlooked over the years.”

She adds: “What we want to do is acknowledge the songs that have made an impact.

“There are new musicals every year, we don’t want songs pushed to the back, we want to celebrate and recognise the importance of musical theatre.

“Dance also has an important role to play, including a big tap number at the end of act one. We will also be welcoming the Breeze Academy of Dance on stage to perform with us in a couple of places during act two.”

The colourful show will be performed by eight West End professionals. Nicky says she is looking forward to the show.

“When visiting the theatre, there is something that feels inviting around this sense of history that brings the community together. We all want people to leave with a smile on their face and a song in their heart. We hope that the songs that we share, will strike a chord with each person who enjoys the performance. We are all looking forward to it.”
