The BSO will mark its 125th anniversary in Bournemouth on Saturday and Sunday with a variety of events for all the family including The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom and a Gala Concert .

The Dorset Vegan Festival will take place in Poole on Sunday at Poole Lighthouse between 10.30am and 4.30pm. Visitors will have the chance to try free samples, enjoy live music and cookery demonstrations as well as inspirational workshops and children's activities. There will be Asian and Mediterranean cuisine on offer plus, raw food, vegan cheese, street foods, hotdogs and burgers. For the sweet toothed there will be chocolates, cup-cakes, cream cakes and sweets.

The third annual Victoria Car Show and Vintage Day takes place at Victoria Education Centre in Lindsay Road between 10am and 4pm.There will be entertainment, a birds of prey display, craft stalls, a raffle, food, live music and vehicles on show, while the 29th Infantry Military Group will be carrying out a special re-enactment in the school’s grounds.

Film & Comic Con Bournemouth returns to the BIC on Saturday and Sunday. Guests include Colin Baker of Doctor Who and Jack Mckenzie from Star Wars. Anthony Head, star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, had been due to appear but he has had to cancel. The event takes place between 9am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. Standard entry costs £8 with £15 for early entry.

An activity day takes place in Studland Beach on Sunday and will see visitors driven around Studland's heathland on a 'Land Rover safari'. The day lasts between 10 am and 4 pm, and is free, though normal admission charges apply. Booking is not necessary. If you would like to attend, come along to Knoll Beach Visitor Centre from 10 am. There will be free yoga in Bournemouth’s Central Gardens on Sunday between 10am and 11am.

The Dorset Police Male Voice Choir will perform at the West Moors Memorial Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday. Admission is £8 for adults and £4 for children, available on the door. The event will raise funds for charity Myra's Wells, as well as St Mary's Church.

The RNLI College in West Quay Road, Poole, will be holding a food and drink festival on Sunday between 11am and 4pm. There will be artisan and gourmet brands, free samples, fair-trade goods, live music. Entry and parking is free.

A music festival is being held in memory of teenager Gaia Pope at The Old Fire Station in Bournemouth on Saturday. During the day, the venue will host a family-orientated event which will include market stalls, a raffle/auction of drum and bass merchandise, penny jar donations, face painting and fire dancers. Later the event will see a special over 18s session headlined by drum and bass DJs Mollie Collins and Hannibal between 10pm and 4am.

British boxing star Anthony Joshua will be appearing at Poole Lighthouse on Saturday. He will be giving a 60-minute special guest interview, followed by a Q and A session with the audience plus there will be a signing session, photo opportunities, a meet and greet and a large auction in aid of Dorset Mind.
