RAIL services will be disrupted again this weekend due to a combination of strike action and engineering work.

RMT workers at South Western Railway are staging a 48-hour strike on Friday and Saturday as part of the long-running and bitter dispute about the role of guards on trains.

The rail company says it is putting together plans to ensure it runs as full a timetable as possible on these days.

On Friday hourly fast trains will run between London Waterloo and Bournemouth. South Western Railway said some additional trains will run during peak periods.

There will be an hourly shuttle service between Weymouth and Bournemouth.

Passengers can change at Bournemouth for a fast train to London.

An hourly stopping service will run between Southampton and Poole between 8am and 4pm.

Outside of these times, an hourly service will run between London Waterloo and Poole.

On Saturday, there is engineering work in the Southampton area with rail replacement buses in operation between Brockenhurst and Eastleigh.

Trains will run hourly between Brockenhurst and Weymouth.

There will be no stopping service between London Waterloo and Poole on the Saturday.

Passengers for onward travel must change on to a bus for Eastleigh where London-bound trains will be waiting.
