A BOY arrested on suspicion of raping a seven-year-old in a Dorset village will not be charged with the offence.

As reported in the Daily Echo, the accused, who was then 11, was held after an incident at an 'outside location' in Wool on the evening of Monday, May 14.

The victim, a boy, has been given support by specially-trained police officers.

A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "Following a detailed investigation by officers, a 12-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of rape was issued with a youth caution for an offence of causing or inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity. "He was not charged with rape.

"The investigation has now concluded. The families of both boys involved have been updated with the outcome and appropriate support offered."
