BURGLARS broke a window before carrying out an untidy search of a Wareham home.
Entry was forced to the property in Stour Drive between 5.20pm and 9.15pm on Monday January 21.
Now police have appealed for information from the public.
It is not clear what, if anything, was stolen.
PC Rob Duckmanton said he believes the offender may have been searching for jewellery and urged people to keep their valuables secure.
