Citizens Advice Purbeck is looking for volunteers to help lead their local charity.

We’re looking for people who can consider the big picture and who have good independent judgement.

We are currently looking for people with knowledge and experience in any of the following areas: law; ICT; fundraising; research & campaigns; community development; and diversity of life experience.

Citizens Advice Purbeck is a small charity that provides information and advice to help people resolve their problems, including benefits, debt, employment, housing and so on.

We provide free and independent advice to help people solve the difficulties they face, and improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives. We help around 1400 people with 5000 issues every year.

Citizens Advice Purbeck is a member of the national Citizens Advice charity which means we have access to the services, resources and support provided by national Citizens Advice but as an independent charity, we’re responsible for running our own affairs within agreed standards.

You’ll need to: be available to attend at least four evening meetings each year have a willingness to work as a team actively participate in discussions that relate to the running of the organisation act in the interests of Citizens Advice Purbeck and that of its staff and clients.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community to help us achieve a diverse trustee board that reflects our clients and communities. We particularly welcome applications from people who are from BAME backgrounds, people with disabilities or long term health conditions, people who are LGBT, and young people aged 18 to 55, who are currently underrepresented on our board.

You do not need experience of working or volunteering with Citizens Advice service. We are looking for people with a wide variety of skills and a diversity of background and experiences.

The post of trustee is a voluntary one but reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed. The role provides you a great deal of experience and satisfaction, the opportunity to develop your skills and utilise your expertise and knowledge.

We are also currently recruiting for various roles including trainee adviser, reception, fundraising, IT and research & campaigns.

Please contact us for more information or an informal discussion about any of these roles - Ella Scrymgeour, 01929 508226 or bdm@purbeck.cabnet.org.uk.

We look forward to welcoming you!
