Who doesn't love afternoon tea. Whether you're a sweet or savoury person, there's something to satisfy all tastebuds.

From dainty sandwiches to delicious cakes and pastries and best of all, mouthwatering scones piled up with jam and cream, you could literally gorge all day on the feast that is afternoon tea.

And there is a whole week dedicated to the art of taking tea, a grand British tradition which fills the food gap between lunch and dinner.

In Dorset, we're blessed with plenty of delicious tea rooms and eateries where we can partake in some refreshments.

Dorset Echo:

Some of our favourites include:

The Lobster Pot, Portland Bill

A beautiful seaside cafe, the Lobster Pot not only provides gluten free scones for those who want them, but is a picture perfect place to refuel. They're also renowned for their chips - so you can create your own bespoke afternoon tea. To hell with tradition.

Blue Pool Tearooms near Wareham

Sumptuous scones can be enjoyed on the terrace in the sun overlooking the Blue Pool or on colder days, by the fireplace.

Grand Hotel, Swanage

Overlooking the sea, the Grand Hotel serves high tea between 3pm and 5pm. From the traditional tea to a Dorset cream tea, the options also include Dorset apple cake with clotted cream. Yum.

Abbots, Cerne Abbas

Homemade scones, local Blackmore Vale clotted cream and Duchy Originals strawberry jam can be enjoyed in the setting of this pretty Dorset village.

Garden Cafe, Downhouse Farm, Bridport

Generous traditional teas to be enjoyed on a working organic farm. This place is off the beaten track, but well worth that extra effort to find.

Now, to the most important question, do you prefer the Cornish way or Devon way?

If you prefer to add your jam and then cream, you're a Cornish cream tea person.

If its cream first and then jam, you're Devon through and through.
