THE fourth annual Bere Regis Memory Walk takes place on Saturday.

Raising fund for the Alzheimer's Society, the two-mile walk starts at 10am by the kicking wall in Elder Road.

Organiser Alison Bennett said: "So many people are becoming more aware of the difficulties that face families when a person has dementia.

"I lost my mother nine years ago with vascular dementia and I understand only to well the heartache that surrounds this diagnosis.

"Much more research and support must be put in place, so why not come along and walk for a world without dementia and raise fund for the sterling work of the Alzheimer's Society in research and support."

The route takes in the outskirts of Bere Regis, ending at the village hall where there will be coffee, cakes a pianist, a raffle and a display of memorabilia from the Dorset Memory Box Library.

It is £5 a person to do the walk and £10 for a family.

Meet in Elder Road at 9.45am.
