IT'S BACK!
The Sandbanks Ferry has finally returned to Dorset, more than 15 weeks after it went out of action.
There are still a few days to go before it will be carrying vehicles and passengers but its arrival this morning was a welcome sight for the thousands of people affected by its suspension.
The ferry, The Bramble Bush Bay, was at a repair facility in Southampton for months waiting for a specialist part.
Since the part arrived, engineers have been working round-the-clock to get it back up and running as soon as possible.
It was towed to Poole Bay overnight and will now undergo tests.
If all goes according to plan the ferry should be running by the end of the week.
More follows.
