CHILDREN at a Dorchester school will be given the first glimpse inside a museum undergoing a major redevelopment.

Dorset Museum is currently undergoing a two-year multi million redevelopment with the new museum planned to open Summer 2020.

On Friday, November 22, the museum is hosting a “Kids Takeover Day” which will see all the students from Dorchester Middle School have a tour of the museum in its current state before taking part in activities in the touring Inflatable Museum back at the school.

This will be the first time since the museum’s closure last year that members of the public will be able to see what’s been going on behind the hoarding boards.

The site is very much a construction site but is now at ground level. It should be an extremely interesting event and a fantastic opportunity for the children to be a part of the museum for their future.

Dorchester Middle School's Key Stage Two children will be visiting the site over the course of the morning and Key Stage Three children will be making exhibits which will go inside the museum.

The school will be extending this exciting day to its extended school family by inviting parents and the wider community after the school day has finished, so they can come and see what the children have been getting up to throughout the day.
