CHRISTMAS trees are an integral part of Christmas.

They are the bright, glittering focal point of our homes that bears gifts beneath its branches.

But if your old tree is looking a bit bald, or you want to try a real tree for a change, here is our guide to finding the perfect, real Christmas tree in Dorset.

1. Trinity Street Christmas Trees, Dorchester

Trinity Street offer a plethora of Christmas trees, ranging from their Luxury Normand Fir to their Norway Spruce.

They have six varieties of trees on offer this year, and will be giving everyone who purchases a tree a free baby tree to plant.

From November 27 Trinity Street will be open seven days a week until 8pm, bar Sunday when the site closes at 5pm.

They are also offering Christmas lighting, tasteful natural decorations and handmade wreaths.

2. Rob's Christmas Trees

Rob's Christmas Trees bring in locally grown Christmas trees every week and sell them on their site at The Inside Park in Blandford Forum, Dorset.

They have pot grown trees and cut trees, both categories hosting a Norway Spruce and Nordmann Fir at varying sizes and prices.

Tree stands of different sizes and prices are also available.

Ready made wreaths to decorate are also on offer.

3. Moors Valley Christmas Tree Shop

Moors Valley have plenty of traditional real Christmas trees, all sustainably grown in Britain, including the traditional Norway Spruce (from 4ft to 8ft) along with the non-drop variety Nordmann Fir (from 5ft to 8ft).

Holly wreaths, holly and mistletoe sprays and tree stands will also be available (subject to availability).

If a Christmas tree is purchased, there will be no car parking charge.

The Christmas Tree shop will be open from 10am to 4pm daily from December 1 - 16 (or until stocks last).

Some of their trees are FSC certified, meaning that the wood products bought have come from reliable and sustainable sources and no harm will be done to the world's forests.

4. Pines and Needles

This aptly named company offer a wide range of Christmas trees.

This includes; indoor, outdoor, pot grown, large, decorated and limited edition.

The opening dates and hours are as follows: November 28 - December 22 and weekdays from 10am - 7pm with weekends opening from 8am - 7pm.

Pines and Needles also offer a delivery service to postcodes BH1to BH9 as well as an order and pick up service.

Their delivery times are: 8pm - 10pm (deliveries are not available on Wednesdays).

5. Wimborne Christmas Trees

This local, family-friendly company specialise in offering top quality and locally sourced trees.

Located at The White Hart, Wimborne, trees will be available to purchase every Saturday and Sunday from December 1 from 10am to 6pm.

Tree sizes will range from 6 to 14 foot, offering a variety of options.

Christmas trees won't be the only thing that's available.

There will also be a Shepherd’s hut with festive drinks and snacks.

6. Cranborne Christmas Tree Farm

Cranborne Christmas Trees stock a variety of species including the traditional Norway spruce and the increasingly popular Nordmann fir.

Sizes from 3ft to 12ft are readily available, as well as holly wreaths and tree stands.

Christmas trees will be on sale from November 29 to December 23 from 10am to 4pm.

If you would like to visit the plantation to choose your own tree and have it cut down then please visit Cranborne Estate on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Last entry to the retail site is 3.45pm and last entry to the field is 3.30pm.

7. Bailey Ridge

From November 30 at Bailey Ridge, you can wander around their Christmas Tree Plantation, choose your tree and collect it just before Christmas, freshly cut and ready for the Christmas holidays.

Bailey Ridge will be open every day in the lead up till Christmas from 9am to 4.30pm.

It will close on December 23 (unless all trees are sold beforehand) so ensure that you collect it before this date.

All their trees are fresh and locally grown.
