A WATER main has burst on the A351 Sandford Road this morning.
Dorset Council's Twitter-based traffic and travel alert service Travel Dorset said Wessex Water is on the scene dealing with the incident.
Temporary lights were in use near the B3075 Morden Road but have now been lifted.
There were reports of long delays on approach but these have now cleared.
A spokesperson for Wessex Water said: "We are carrying out emergency repairs to a burst water main on the Wareham Bypass, with temporary lights in operation.
"We’re sorry for any disruption caused while we carry out these repairs as quickly as possible."
