A FLOOD alert has been issued for the Lower Frome and tributaries.

The Environment Agency says river levels remain high at the East Stoke river gauge, as a result of recent rainfall and saturated conditions.

A spokesman for the agency said: "Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Dorchester and Wareham.

"Although little rain is forecast in the coming days, we expect river levels to remain high.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated as the situation changes."
