MAGISTRATES have jailed a man who was caught driving whilst disqualified for a sixth time.

Gavin Galbraith, of the Coombe, Reading, was stopped while driving a Subaru Legacy in Appleton Drive, Basingstoke, on December 30, last year.

At the time he was disqualified from driving, while it was also found that he did not have the correct insurance.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence at Basingstoke magistrates court last week.

He was sent to prison for 12 weeks as it was his sixth driving whilst disqualified offence, and because he was said to have “poor compliance” with court orders.

Mr Galbraith was also made to pay a victim surcharge of £122.

A 72-YEAR-OLD Hook man has been fined for being drunk whilst riding a bicycle.

Michael Mann, of Thackhams Lane, in Hartley Witney, was found to be drunk while in charge of a pedal cycle at the junction of Victoria Road and Fleet Road, in Fleet, on November 12, last year.

He pleaded guilty to the offence at Basingstoke magistrates court and was fined £60 and made to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £35 in costs.

A MAN has been found guilty of driving whilst almost three times over the drink driving limit.

Zoltan Mate, for Maidenhead, was found driving a white Peugeot in Hartley Lane, Tadley, on August 17, last year. He had 110 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The 43-year-old initially denied the charge in September last year but was proven guilty last week.

Magistrates gave him a community order and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was also made to pay a £90 victim surcharge and £620 in costs.

A BASINGSTOKE man has avoided jail after stealing and riding a moped.

Lee Dorkin, of Martin Close, initially denied charges of assisting with the theft of a Yahama moped worth £3,800 on November 6, last year. He did, however, admit to riding that vehicle and driving it whilst disqualified and without the correct insurance.

But at a trial at Basingstoke magistrates court on Friday the 30-year-old was found guilty of assisting with the theft.

Magistrates gave him a two-year suspended sentence of 12 weeks in prison.

He was also made to pay a £122 victim surcharge, £150 in compensation and £300 in costs.

A TEENAGER has been fined £50 for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour towards someone.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to the offence at Basingstoke magistrates court on Friday.

He was fined £50 and made to pay a £21 victim surcharge.

A 23-YEAR-OLD man has been made to pay almost £500 after driving 54mph in a 30mph zone.

Clinton Brandon, of Falkland Road, Basingstoke, drove a Fiat on Hatch Warren Way at 54mph on August 23, 2019.

His guilt was proven by single justice procedure and he was fined £334, made to pay a £33 victim surcharge plus costs of £85.

MAGISTRATES gave a man six points on his licence after he drove 100mph on the M3 near Basingstoke.

James Sanderson, of Malthouse Close, in Church Crookham, was found driving 30mph over the 70mph speed limit on the M3 southbound, between junctions 5 and 6, on December 14, last year.

He pleaded guilty via single justice procedure and was fined £800 and made to pay an £80 victim surcharge and £80 in costs. He was also given six points on his driving licence.
