A STOLEN car was rammed into two police cars.

Officers responding to reports of a burglary in which a Nissan was stolen from Hereford Road, Heaton, saw the car being driven towards Bolton town centre.

They stopped the vehicle on Knowsley Street and say officers the Nissan driver began to ram two police vehicles.

Officers later found the house from where the car was stolen had also been burgled.

Two men, aged 29 and 27, have been arrested and taken into custody for questioning.

Posting on Facebook, police said: "Two males have been arrested following a burglary in #Heaton.

"Just before 4am this morning (Friday 21st February 2020), officers responded to reports of two males trying to steal a Nissan on Hereford Road, #Heaton.

"Whilst officers were en route to the location, they saw the Nissan driving towards #Bolton #TownCentre. Officers stopped the vehicle on Knowsley Street, at which point, the Nissan driver began to ram two police vehicles.

"Both males were detained and we now have a 29-year-old and 27-year-old male in custody.

"When officer's attended the Nissan owners address, they found that the house had been burgled. Both males remain in police custody for questioning."
