THIS summer's Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle has been cancelled by organisers.

Following similar announcements by other large music festivals around the country, organisers of the established and award-winning family event have confirmed it will not take place due to coronavirus pandemic.

This year's Camp Bestival, which was scheduled for July 30 to August 2, was set to be headlined by Fatboy Slim and One Direction's Liam Payne.

Curators Rob da Bank and his wife Josie released a statement on the Camp Bestival website today confirming the news.

The statement said: "Dear campers, Camp Bestival will no longer be taking place this year. We’ve been closely monitoring this unprecedented situation and it has become clear that it’s just not possible for this year’s festival to go ahead.

Swanage and Wareham Voice:

"Our gratitude goes out to the families and artists who were looking forward to it as much as we were, and we thank you for your patient understanding. We were so pleased with our line-up (including exciting new additions) as well as your reaction to it, and were so looking forward to welcoming everyone to Lulworth for our best ever Camp Bestival.

"Rest assured, we’ll be back at Lulworth Castle on 29th July - 1st August 2021, stronger than ever with plenty of new surprises in store and we hope to see you all there!"

The statement added that organisers are working with Ticketmaster and Front Gate Tickets for people to retain tickets for next year or process a full refund. Those who had bought tickets should receive an email over the next week.
