POLICE stopped four drivers on the A30 near Sherborne doing a combined total of 419mph.
The driver of a Peugeot 5-08, who was caught travelling at 109mph told officers: “I’m in a hurry to go fishing.”
Travelling at 107mph, the driver of a Hyundai I40 said: “I’m in a hurry after playing golf to buy dog food in Yeovil.”
The driver of a VW Golf TDI said he was delivering pizzas from Yeovil to Sherborne.
As well as travelling 104mph, police found he only had social, domestic and pleasure cover on his insurance, which was added to his report.
Finally, a Mercedes C200 was caught at 99mph.
The driver said: “I’m in a hurry to deliver a takeaway to a friend in Sherborne and get back to Dorchester for a drink.”
