AN East Lancashire nail and beauty salon is celebrating after winning six awards.

Despite having to shut its doors due to the coronavirus crisis, Split n Polish in Cherry Tree, Blackburn, scooped half a dozen of the industry’s accolades at the annual British Hair and Beauty Awards, held online.

Salon owner, Maria Mcnaboe said: “I’m super proud of my girls, myself and our salon.

“To even be in the finals is a huge achievement but to be recognised and win is just simply amazing.”

The salon, on Preston Old Road, has been open for 21 years, and this year Mrs Mcnaboe and her team won gold in the North West Best Salon, and the North West Microblading Expert of the Year categories, for the second year running.

They also walked away overall winners of the Microblading Expert of the Year category.

Mrs Mcnaboe, 41, continued: “This is the second year running that we have won the award for best salon.

“And second year running I’ve won Microblading expert of the year.

“This has just been truly amazing and this fabulous news could not have come at a better time for us all and the salon.”

Split and Polish remains closed, as nail bars and beauty salons were not included in the list of businesses that were allowed to re-open as lockdown restrictions were eased last week.

Mrs Mcnaboe added: “It’s been a very stressful time for us and all salons. It would be great if we had a re-opening date to be working to but I’m sure it won’t be long till we find out. We have a waiting list a mile long but haven’t been making bookings until we have an official date.”
