FIREFIGHTERS from Bolton and Bury were among the crews tackling a large scale fire at an industrial estate.
The fire broke out last night with crews still on the scene this morning.
Crews were called to the industrial estate in High Street, Golborne, Leigh at around 9pm.
The fire is believed to involve pallets, and it is understood that the blaze affected nearby buildings.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said they mobilised a number of fire engines and specialist appliances to the scene and crews from Cheshire Fire were also at the scene.
At one point, firefighters were tackling the blaze using an aerial appliance.
One person told The Bolton News: "There are houses near the industrial estate and people were told to keep their windows shut.
"There were 12 fire appliances there and two United Utilities tankers also turned up.
"The fire crews seemed to get the fire under control pretty quickly."
