TWO properties have been left with "extensive" roof damage after a fire broke out in Bournemouth early on Monday morning. 

Nine fire crews rushed to the incident in Bradpole Road in the Strouden Park area.

The fire started in the roof space of one of the properties before spreading to the attached property.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said all occupants of the house had been accounted for.

Firefighters were called to the incident at 5.56am.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire, involving a two-floor building, had spread into the roof space as well as the attached property."

They added: "The roofs of both properties have been left with extensive damage."

The fire was extinguished at 8.32am. 

The cause has been confirmed as accidental due to an electrical issue.

Fire engines from Springbourne, Redhill Park, Christchurch, Poole, Westbourne, Ferndown and Wimborne attended the incident along with a support vehicle from Sherborne and ALP from Westbourne.  

Sixteen fire fighters using breathing apparatus used four hose reel jets and an aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire.

The last fire crew left the scene at 10.19am. 

Dorset Police also attended the incident. 

A spokesperson said: "We received a report from the fire service at 6.04am on Monday 10 August 2020 of a fire at an address on Bradpole Road in Bournemouth.

"Officers attended to assist with closing the road."
