WHO needs the Whitsundays? Dorset boasts two of the beaches with the whitest sands in the UK apparently.

Studland Bay and Bournemouth beach have both appeared in a top 10 of the beaches offering sands you might perhaps expect to find in more tropical climes.

Parkdean Resorts colour matched the sands of over 50 UK beaches to create a colour palette dubbed ‘sandtone’.

Kynance Cove in Cornwall came out on top, followed by Appletree Bay on the Isles of Scilly with St Ives in Cornwall taking third place.

Studland Bay and Bournemouth took fourth and fifth place respectively.

Other beaches featured in the top 10 included Whitby Sands, West Wittering, Brancaster, Fistral Beach and Bamburgh Castle.

Catherine Lynn, Chief Customer Officer at Parkdean Resorts said: “While international travel is still under various restrictions, we want to encourage people to see all that the UK has to offer on our very own shores so we’ve created sandtone as a love letter to UK’s beaches in the hopes that people will fall back in love with staycationing.”
