PARENTS have been warned they face penalties if they park on zigzag lines outside schools.
Dorset Police and Dorset Council are working together to ensure the safety of children across the county.
A spokesman for the Dorset Police No Excuse team said: "Warning letters are being sent out as a first stance to those parking in these zones - persistent offenders will receive penalty notices - we can only say 'You have been warned'."
As reported in the Daily Echo website previously, parking on pavements could be banned across England.
The Government plans to make journeys easier for disabled people and parents pushing prams.
The Department for Transport (DfT) is consulting on three options in relation to pavement parking; extend the London-style ban nationwide, make it easier for councils to prohibit pavement parking and give councils the power to fine offenders.
