SIXTEEN more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Bournemouth Echo area in the last 24-hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows 15 additional people tested positive in the BCP Council area in the 24-hour period leading up to 4pm yesterday.

It means 1,055 have now tested positive within the BCP Council boundaries since the start of the pandemic, giving an infection rate of 266.9 per 100,000.

In the Dorset Council area no extra cases were recorded yesterday.

That means the total number of people within the Dorset Council area who have tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic remains at 726.

Meanwhile, one extra person tested positive in the New Forest, taking the total to 564.

A further 21 people have died in the UK after testing positive for Covid-19, making the total 41,705.
