A DRIVER narrowly avoided rear-ending a police car when he failed to realise traffic was stationary.

He was dealt with for driving without due care and attention by the force's dedicated No Excuse Team.

A spokesman said: The end of our day was on the A350, one of our unmarked vehicles was stationary in traffic when another vehicle narrowly avoided colliding into the rear of the police vehicle.

"The driver was driving too fast to react to the stationary traffic, the driver reacted by braking hard and going into the opposite carriageway to avoid colliding into the rear of our vehicle, this also left marks on the road.

"The driver said: 'I didn’t expect to see cars queueing'.

"This driver was dealt with for driving without due care and attention."
