THE air ambulance was called to Wyke Regis in Weymouth to help an injured man.
The distinctive red Devon Air Ambulance Trust helicopter landed on Wyke Regis Junior School's playing field yesterday morning at around 10am.
Police also attended the emergency and praised the response by medical teams and paramedics.
A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Police were called to an incident in Wyke where an injured male received the best possible care from all services.
"Children from Wyke Regis Primary Federation were rewarded with the sighting of the air ambulance landing in their school playing field.
"Great partnership working today with our colleagues from South West Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance Exeter."
Eyewitnesses have reported seeing a major emergency service response at Sunnyside Road in Wyke.
Wyke resident Colin Hobbs said: "Emergency vehicles stormed down Sunnyside Road with a helicopter overhead. It then took off again some time later."
