DORSET has recorded 134 new cases of Covid-19 across the county in the last 24 hours.

According to the latest data published on the government website, 92 positive results were recorded in the BCP Council area up to 4pm on Wednesday October 15.

This takes the total number of people who have now tested positive for Covid-19 in the local authority since the start of the pandemic to 2,124.

The infection rate per 100,000 people sits at 537.3.

In the Dorset Council area, 42 new cases have been reported, meaning that the total number of cases has risen to 1,152 and the infection rate is at 304.4.

The New Forest had 20 new cases bringing the total number of cases to 779 with a rate of 432.6.

Yesterday, the NHS revealed that a further 81 people, who tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 30,743.
