A FASHION student has set up a new sustainable fashion store focused on making 'affordable and organic' tailored items.

Studio Zipcode was founded in March 2020 by AUB fashion design student Emily Coleman.

Emily said: “I actually launched our online store at the beginning of the UK lockdown. Despite my initial concerns it was greeted with a wonderful reception.

“Everyone was very enthusiastic about the sustainability side of the brand and were grateful that someone was creating garments outside the realm of standard fruit-dyed sandy colours and linens.”

Every item is designed and handmade to order in the fashion brand’s studio in Winton by a small team of three employees.

Because of this, Studio Zipcode are fully size-inclusive and all materials used are either 100 per cent organic, recycled, or deadstock.

Fabric remnants are upcycled into zero-waste products including scrunchies, facemasks, and earrings.

Since opening the doors of their new site on Wimborne to customers on Thursday September 17, Studio Zipcode have profited from a steady stream of visitors.

Emily added: “Opening the store has been extremely exciting for us. We have expanded our team and taken on a group of local ambassadors.

“The location means that our audience is super varied in age and we have found that stocking lots of smaller businesses has expanded our audience further.

“Our shop provides information on exactly where the products have come from and who they were made by. We are aiming to encourage people to shop locally and make conscious purchases.”

The shop on Wimborne Road is open on Thursdays 11am to 6pm, and Fridays and Saturdays 11am to 5pm.
