A PARTIALLY blind dog fell off a cliff on Portland.

Portland Bill and Wyke coastguard rescue teams were called at about 2.30pm yesterday after reports that a dog had gone over a cliff at Incline Road.

A partially blind Patterdale Terrier had misjudged the cliff edge and fallen approximately 8ft into bushes from the viewing area on Incline road behind the YOI.

A rope rescue system was rigged and a cliff technician lowered the short distance down to the dog.

After a little persuasion and a few doggy treats the cliff technician was able to recover the terrier back to the top of the cliff.

With the dog recovered and miraculously not sustaining any injuries, the teams stood down and returned to their stations.
