AN UNAUTHORISED encampment has been set up in a car park in Poole.
BCP Council has confirmed that it is aware of the situation at the slipway car park in Baiter Park.
Police have also been made aware of the encampment.
Officers from the local authority reportedly carried out a welfare check on the site yesterday afternoon and the legal process has been started to clear the location.
A BCP Council spokesperson said: "The council and the Police are aware of the unauthorised encampment and assessments of the encampment are being carried out.
"The unauthorised encampment is being visited/monitored daily by the council."
Councillor Vikki Slade has written on social media in response to a resident about the situation.
On Twitter, her account posted: "Team were onsite yesterday to do welfare check, [I] have asked if we can visit to ticket illegally parked vehicles, request in for additional bin emptying and court hearing process commenced.
"Without an alternative site we have to go through legal process."
