CUMBRIA'S Police and Crime Commissioner is urging vigilance on the road as winter approaches.
Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, said: “Unfortunately, winter is here and so is driving in the dark with wet roads.
“The clocks changing brings darker mornings and nights to the forefront of our journeys and winter brings icy and wet road conditions: we must be prepared.
“I want to encourage all motorists to drive to road conditions – not speeding on our roads and lowering your speed when the weather calls for it.
“Check that your tyres are winter ready and that your headlights, windscreen wipers and brakes are working as they should.
“It is also sensible to have a winter kit in your car in case of emergencies such as warm, preferably high-vis, jackets, ice scraper, torch and batteries, shovel, first aid kit and a mobile phone charger.
“Drive responsibly."
